Luminess Air Makeup: Discover the Secrets for Perfect Foundation
Luminess air makeup is capable of producing a delicately-blended, utterly professional result – but it helps greatly if you:
1. Follow the instructions
2. View the videos provided
3. Follow these tips and tricks
(That might seem painfully obvious – but it’s amazing how quickly people rush to use a new beauty product, without checking out all the instructions first!)
If you just want light coverage, you can use it as a tinted moisturizer by adding a drop or two of your favorite moisturizer to your foundation (do this in the Luminess wand funnel – not in the actual bottle of foundation, or it will separate and decrease the quality of your foundation, on storage).
Just make very sure you’re adding a water-based moisturizer, however: Not an oil-based one! (Remember the old proverb: “Oil and water don’t mix!”)
You can also add a drop or two of shimmer or bronzer, to give your foundation more pizzazz. (This is a great trick for night time!)
Finding your Best Shade of Luminess Air Foundation
Finding the right shade for your skin is not usually a problem, since Luminess Air makeup adapts and blends with the color of your skin. The kit comes with a nice selection of foundations, shimmer, bronzer and blush.
TIP: Be sure to shake each bottle really well before use. And be sure to allow 2-3 light coats, letting them dry in between coats (some people use the “air” setting, once all foundation has cleared from the funnel, to speed this up).
It’s better to apply a light misting 2 or 3 times than yank the button back all the way and plaster your face with foundation. (How do you know if you’ve applied your foundation with too heavy a hand? Simple – your skin will feel it!)
Providing you’ve made an attempt to match your skin tone by testing it on your forearm first (as instructed by Luminess Airbrush makeup), you’ll most likely find that the foundation “adapts” to your skin tones as if by magic.
What About Luminess Air Cosmetics and “Problem” Skin?
Luminess Air cosmetics work spectacularly on “problem skin” – but you have to know a few tricks.
- Blemishes – The fine multi-layer technique is absolutely crucial, if you want to cover any skin blemishes.
- Wrinkles – Again, keep a light touch with very fine, barely-there coatings is the best way to hide wrinkles. Make sure your face is well-moisturized first with a light, water-based, daytime moisturizer; and make sure you let the moisturizer absorb into the skin for at least 7 minutes, before applying your foundation. (And whatever you do, think “smooth” – don’t squint or grimace when applying!)
- Facial Hair – If you’re one of the many women with noticeable fine hair on your face, nothing could be easier than removing makeup particles from these hairs! Once your makeup has “set”, use a good-quality Kabuki brush to lightly whisk away the excess makeup
- Sensitive skin – Luminess Air foundations are a good choice for people with sensitive skin: The light coatings and its water base tend to agree better with skin than oil-based cosmetics. There’s no guarantee that any makeup won’t “set off” your skin’s alarm bells – but Luminess Air is definitely worth trying out
Foundation Application Secrets
Always spray in an outward motion – this way, your make doesn’t penetrate the pores, as it would with an inward motion. You don’t want pores deeply clogged – you want them to “breathe!”
Set your makeup after it has dried by spraying it lightly with a very fine mist of pure Rosewater, which you can get in the International section of your grocery store for less than $4.00. Not only does Rosewater have a delicate, light scent, it’s pure food grade, and deliciously refreshing on your skin.
The key is in finding a cosmetic spray bottle that will provide a very fine mist, however: If the spray is too harsh or heavy, your makeup may streak.
Practice on your forearm first, till you get the hang of using the Luminess airbrush! Spray in small, outward circles, and make sure you barely slide the button from the “off” position. It may feel quite awkward at first – but you’ll be surprised how quickly you get the hang of it!
